Horseshoe Cottage Farm is an ideal base for walkers, situated opposite a large country park and adjacent to Swithland Woods in The National Forest.

Cyclists & Walkers

We encourage walkers and cylists to stay at Horseshoe Cottage Farm and provide them with the facilities to enable this including:

  • Secure lockable areas for bikes;

  • Puncture repair kit and pump;

  • Hosing down facilities for bikes and boots;

  • Drying room and sink;

  • Spare trekking poles;

  • Maps with marked routes and places of interest to borrow or copy onto phone;

  • There are numerous cafes,shops, pubs and tea shops dotted along all the routes for you to try;

  • Tea and homemade cake on your return to replace those lost calories!

  • Luxury showers and baths to ease aching limbs;

  • Bicycle repairs and rental locally (Pedal Power, Lougborough).

There are many excellent cycle routes in and around Charnwood Forest.  Bikes can also be hired locally.


As well as literature and maps, our own local knowledge can be used to plot routes to suit every level.

Loughborough Farmers Markets

These markets are normally held on the second Wednesday of each month in Loughborough Town Centre between 9am and 2.30pm approx.


There is always a wide variety of organic and healthy food and drink including such items as local wine, bread, fruit and veg, poultry, pork, beef, lamb and even Ostrich!
